A Summer Wardrobe: Everyday Tops

As a recent college grad, I feel like I’m completely ready to ditch all of my college clothes (Lululemon aligns & a crewneck sweatshirt… every day), and start building a wardrobe that will serve me for the remainder of my 20’s. I find inspiration for my personal style and wardrobe from magazines, Pinterest, and my favorite celebrities and models. Of course each person has their own style interests and inspirations, and I think it all comes down to which clothes make you feel like your best, most confident self.

For now, we’re going to focus on building a summer wardrobe full of “effortless” looks for everyday wear. “A Summer Wardrobe” will be a 3 part blog series, and today we’re starting with tops.

TOPS

1) Bodysuits, tank tops, and cropped t-shirts are my summer staples. Some of my favorite places to shop for basic items like these are Aritzia, Zara, and Forever 21. Below are some of my favorites from this season, and they each come in multiple different colors.

I ordered this button up sweater vest from Zara without knowing whether or not I would like it, but it’s definitely going to be one of my most worn pieces this summer. It’s fun to mix in pieces that might stray away from the “norm” or what is trendy. If you vibe with it, just rock it!

2) Layering pieces. Michigan weather is unpredictable, so you never know when you might need something to throw on over what you’re wearing. My favorite summer layering item is probably a flannel shirt.

3) Cuter statement tops. Princess Polly is my go-to for everyday tops that make more of a statement!

I try to have a few of each type of top (basic, layering, and statement) to make sure that I have something to wear no matter the occasion. Having a variety of tops will make you feel like you’re repeating outfits way less!

On the next part of this blog series we will discuss pants you need in your wardrobe!
